melAfter finishing her PhD in Cancer Biology at Moffitt Cancer Center and The University of South Florida, Melissa pursued a career in freelance medical and scientific writing.

She is passionate about sharing science with the public and feels that science and medical communication is crucial to promoting the importance of research and innovation, especially in the current healthcare environment.

As a medical and scientific writer, she specializes in medical marketing and news.

As a scientist, she has published groundbreaking research in Nature journals and wrote a proposal for the Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award,  which was funded by the NIH.

Melissa really enjoys teaching: this is one key reason she chose the medical writing career track after her PhD.

She is an aspiring yogi, avid runner, and vegetarian chef.

When she isn’t reading and writing about science and medicine, you can find Melissa with her nose in a good historical fiction novel.
